Cookie Policy

Effective: March 30, 2026

1. The Banner You See on the Site

When you first visit Panthaion, a bar at the bottom of the screen asks you to Accept or Reject non-essential cookies and similar technologies.

  • Accept — you agree we may use optional technologies such as analytics when enabled, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Reject non-essential — we only use what is strictly necessary to run and secure the Service.

Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under the key panthaion_cookie_consent_v1 (a JSON object containing an analytics flag). This is a “similar technology” for consent management purposes. You can clear it via browser developer tools or site data settings to see the banner again and update your choice.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs). Together we refer to these as “cookies” in this policy where applicable law treats them similarly.

3. Categories We Use

Strictly necessary. Required to deliver the Service you request: session and authentication cookies (set by the platform framework), CSRF protection, load balancing, and storing your Ecosystem and notebook session state. These are never used for optional analytics or advertising.

Functional. Non-essential enhancements such as remembering UI preferences, display settings in the notebook environment, or Ecosystem filter choices. Where UK/EU law requires consent for these, we only enable them after you click Accept.

Analytics / performance. Helps us understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the platform. We only load these after you click Accept. We use Google Analytics 4 when analytics consent is granted; you can read more in Google’s documentation and privacy materials.

Marketing. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on the core platform today. If we add them, we will update this policy and the consent banner before doing so.

4. Third Parties

Embedded services (e.g. CAPTCHA providers, payment widgets, notebook integrations, maps, or video players) may set their own cookies or process device data. Their use is governed by their providers’ policies. Ensure your integrations respect the user’s consent choice — do not load non-essential third-party scripts or widgets until the user has clicked Accept.

5. Duration

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies and local storage entries last until they expire naturally, you delete them, or you clear site data. Consent records are kept long enough to demonstrate compliance if required.

6. Withdrawing Consent

You may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time by clearing the panthaion_cookie_consent_v1 entry in your browser and reloading the page, then selecting Reject. You may also clear all site data through your browser settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing that occurred before withdrawal.
